It looked like a Besson or Yamaha Eb with front action pistons.
Don't quote me, though -- it's been a long time since I've fallen asleep looking at the tuba sections of music catalogs.
And, yeah, he sounded great (as expected). I also liked the tune, "The Carnival Has Ended" -- an arrangement of Beer Barrel Polka using all the cliches from way too many solo works, including an "obligatory double tongue section", followed later by a triple tongue section. Good stuff.
