Well, so far in my experience and opinion, the basic idea is that BBb tubas are darker and CC tubas are brighter sounding. BBb tubas are used more commonly in band and wind ensembles and CC tubas are more suited for orchestras and smaller ensembles. But both are good (I had to say that just to keep away from any fire). But I also found that CC tubas are easier to play (just how trumpets can play fast parts more smooth and easier than huge tubas can......if we go to extremes). So if you're more into small ensemble stuff, I'd go to CC. But if you're more into bands and brass bands, I would suggest BBb. And also, most professional tuba players use CC or F tubas because they're not in bands, if that kinda bothered you. :.)
