I am a bit perplexed. I have a Mirafone BBb 186 5 valve circa 1978 that has always played extremely sharp. Tuning to other players and an electronic tuner I find myself pulling the main slide out 3/4", and the 1, 3,4 and 5 slides almost all the way out. Am I doing something wrong or is this just an extremely sharp instrument. I have played this tuba since it was new and I don't think I would give it up for any other horn (except maybe a Nirschl), but what gives? Any one else seen this or is it me?
