I'd have to say that my favorite Mahler symphony is the 9th. It begins to show the crossover between Romantic and 20th century music, and I think it's his finest masterpiece. My personal favorite recording of the 9th is Bernstein with Concercebow Amsterdam. Great!

As far as other favorite Mahler recordings, I HIGHLY recommend the Kaplan Mahler 2 edition with London Symphony Orchestra. It brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it. (FYI-this CD set comes with a CD-ROM and a miniature score of Mahler 2.)
