Someone needs to get this message to band directors. Almost every director that isn't a tuba player or knows something about drum corps ends up buying the 3/4 horns, thinking that they will be easier for the smaller guys to use. However, it's a lot harder to get them to put out the sound you want, and unlike the heavier, longer horns, they don't balance on your shoulder very well; all the weight ends up on your arms. Hear this, band directors: Bigger is better! Put someone in charge of your tuba section who will take charge and teach your kids how to use the horns correctly, either a student or a drum corps guy willing to spend time with them.
