There are only 3 reasons to spend more money and get a gold plated mouthpiece.
1) Gold is more inert and will be less likely cause an allergic reaction.
2) Gold is less porous. If you like a wet slippery rim, gold will be slicker.
3) Vanity. If you like it, you like it.
