My dearly beloved Sousa

I have an ancient Conn Pan American Eb Sousa. I also play a much new Reynolds Eb Sousa for German and Dixieland gigs. I really like the Conn because it has the 'dummy' tube configuration resulting in a larger area in which to place my aging, fat body. What is involved in changing the pitch of the Conn Pan American to a modern pitch horn? Please don't suggest removing one of the tuning bits because the horn is very comfortable to play as it is. I would attempt to remove some tubing myself if there is some sort of guideline for which slides to cut and how much to remove.
