I had the same idea, but would suggest a different approach: Put Warren Deck style piston valves on it. With a shorter lead pipe and a short vertical tuning slide you would have a great horn. The leftover rotary valves would be useful for other projects, such as putting 5th valves on various instruments. They would probably sell like hotcakes on ebay.
