Jay is right, your teacher should be able to help you in this. The biggest question which you haven't answered is your budget. That will have a big impact on the right course of action. I would suggest calling Matt Walters at Dillon music, or Dave Fedderly at Baltimore brass to see what used horns they might have which would fit the bill. If you buy one remember that a better horn will keep more of its value in the future if you need to sell it or upgrade than would an inexpensive horn. Piston vs. rotary valves is really not as important as how the horn plays for you. For this reason it is always best to try before you buy something. If you can't visit a store which has the horn you want, make sure that they have a trial period in case it just isn't for you when you get it.
