That's not exactly true. There have been an assortment of non-Americans that get mentioned, including the likes of Walter Hilgers and John Fletcher. Fletcher is, if anything, nearly as much of a legend as Arnold Jacobs.

It is true that most of the non-American tuba players getting airtime on Tubenet are those who record or perform recitals in the U.S. Unless they participate in this forum, or do something to raise their visibility above the orchestra in which they play, orchestral players over there are just unknown here. We hear them on the recordings, and we are impressed, but we don't know who it is in most cases. Of course, there are several people here who play in orchestras over there, including, for example, Carl Kleinsteuber. And there are some who play semi-professionally and in amateur groups, like Klaus Bjerre.

But the majority of participants here are Americans, so it's probable that they will talk about American tubists, without intending offense or disparagement to tuba players elsewhere.
