I liked Brasso for army issue belt buckles. But the serious modern army type buys a permanently finished brass belt buckle to save on polishing. Otherwise he'd wear out one or two over a lifetime hitch. I only used that buckle for 21 months so didn't care if I wore through it or if an inspecting officer could use it for a shaving mirror. Brasso is abusive of anything of finer quality. Go with something that puts down an anticorrosion layer like the silver polish from 3M... It might not shine as bright but it will shine longer.
