I've seen both horns in the shop and I can honestly say, go with Miraphone, they'll last you longer. The VMI's are really finicky and not as sturdy in the bell section as a good Miraphone. They've beefed up their solder joints so they don't break anymore but they're just not as durable, for a high school band, as a good Miraphone. They play great, they're made by the same company as Perantucci, but they're much more fragile. Just my thoughts...
