You should also consider what you want in a teacher. Yes good tuba playing is good tuba playing, but some teachers are good at teaching orchestral playing, others band playing, and still others solo work. I suggest e-mailing or calling the teachers from the schools you're interested in. This way you can get a feel for their own style, then you can go play for those who you like. Their e-mail addresses are almost always available on the internet, and most are more than happy to talk to you. This was discussed rather extensively about a year ago, so you might want to check the archives. I'd try to help you more, but 90% of what I can tell you is in the archives.
