There are a lot of schools in which there are great tuba teachers. As a person living in Los Angeles all my life, I can tell you that USC would be a great way to go, if you're willing to spend the kind of money they ask for. Think of it as buying 2 yorkbrunners a year, and that's about how much it costs. However, you'll learn a lot from Jim Self and Tommy Johnson, so I think it's an almost even exchange. Take a look at some of the conservatories on the east coast too. If you manage to get into Juilliard somehow (and that's not taking anything away from you or your playing, but the school is VERY selective), you can't go wrong with Warren Deck as your teacher. And (sorry if I'm rambling), if you wish to take a chance and go for it, there's always Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University, where you'd get to study with Gene....
