I double on many instruments (for MONEY), so my comments come from a perspective of trying to put out a marketable product. I do play a Mirafone compensating euphonium/baritone/tenor tuba in a working quartet. Now for what it's worth. Most of the notes that I have had trouble with tend to be out-of-tune for one reason or another. I use a tuner to find out how far off and in which direction. From there I begin to work on how to solve the problem. The old stand-by and "pat" answer on brass instruments is, of course, lip slurs. I do them on the mouthpiece, on the instrument, without mouthpiece or horn, any way to get control of the pitch. Usually if you can get the note without the instrument, you can get it on the instrument with any valve combination you can get comfortable with.
