But then, we live in a time where just about every manufacturer has their "economy line" made in some backwater and the made-at-home "real stuff". The more savvy manufacturers know to keep the quality on the low-priced stuff adequate so that it doesn't tarnish the corporate escutcheon.

So it is actually in Selmer's best interest to make sure that they get top-quality product from Yamaha to sell as Bach Mercedes, or Holton, or whatever. A lesson they seemingly haven't yet learned.
