Why is there such a difference in the quality of the different brand name tubas? Is it because some are hand crafted and others are machine honed?
What makes a good tuba? Bore size, metal formula quality, origin of essential parts, graduated bore?etc...
For example: The cervenys made before the 1980's have thick metal, large shoulder and bottom bow. Now everything on cervenys are machined made. Is it economics? The cerveny of old boasts about having a wonderful product. Now, it seems as if this company is sacraficing quality for quantity.
