I found myself a big BBb tuba thats great for soloing on for this very reason. Both the large BBb tubas I have (York 6/4 & Cerveny 5/4) have a more solid high range than the three CCs I use (186 5U, HB 21, Yamaha 621) If a certain range is really important to you, look for a horn that will produce it. Also, just like the low range, you really have to put in SOME WORK to make the outer ranges "happen".
