I had an instructor that played an HB-321 (the model with the loop in the lead pipe), and he had the same problem. However, he used clear fingernail polish to cover up the corroded areas! (i am not making this up) Eventually he got the thing replaced, but he said the fingernail polish saved him through several concerts!
