I am playing a Hirsbrunner HBS 192 BB tuba, using a Egger-mouthpiece,similar to Yamaha Nr.66. Using the same mouthpiece at a Besson international BB-sousaphon,some of the tones are not so clear and are sometimes a little bit "flattered",and I have to concentrate more to get a centered tone.Although the sound is not rich enough. I would like to have a powerfull sound, rich dark and mellow. (Playing in a New Orleans Jazz Band with also a lot of tuba solos). What kind/type/brand of mouthpiece should I try? Bigger rim diameter, deep or more a swallower cup volume? In Switzerland we are using most Yamaha and Denis Wick tuba mouthpieces. Thanks a lot, Ulrich.
