How warm the air column in the horn is will affect harmonics the most. I computed some time ago that the velocity of propagation changed a quarter step between 70 and 98 °F. I'm sure a hot tuba isn't hot all the way through, and so the temperature gradient is going to affect he harmonics more than the fundamental. An argument for a short lead pipe to the valves.

While 3 dB is a great deal of change to instrumentation, its about the minimum level change detectable by ear.
