Has anyone ever heard of a reaction between valve oil and a grease-cutting dish detergent that gums up piston valves?

I just got my Conn 20-J from my local repair shop where I asked them to clean and flush it because the valves were very sticky. I was told that they had to clean an extreme build-up of crud inside the #1 & 2 cylinders. When we discussed causes, I told them that two weeks earlier,I soaked the horn in the bathtub with warm water and shot of Dawn dish soap and later wrinsed it out with the garden hose. They said it took them over three hours to get crud off with Asitone (sp?). We guessed there was a chemical raction between the Dawn dish detergent and the Hetman Classic valve oil that I use. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

What bothers me about the whole thing is that they didn't weren't very pleasant about doing the work! And to top it off, they said they lost money on the work with what they charged me -$110 !

Do I have a problem with my cleaning technique or the repair shop, or both?
