Yes you could put a larger receiver on one of these, and it wouldn't cost too much. I played a similar 3 valve compensator in High School in 1969 and 70 and I loved the sound, although I didn't have much to compare it to at the time. It is a tall tuba that can be a little awkward to hold, but for $500 would be a good deal if you are looking for a bargain BBb tuba, and if it doesn't need a lot of work to be made playable.
