I have no where near the volume of reference of Joe S. but I agree with him completely. I have heard really good players sound glorious on what amounts to a garden hose. I think there are some technological improvements that are being made to instruments but the best way to improve the sound and characteristics of my horn is to play it more and work on MY ability not modifying the horn/mouthpiece.
