I see some serious clipping on that waveform. (The tops and bottoms of the waves are flattened, due to overloading at some stage in the recording equipment.) It could be a microphone with not enough headroom, or it could be that the input stage of the preamplifier is overloaded, or it could be that the recording level is set too high. The result is generation of lots of higher harmonics and a nasty sound on playback.
