According to your original posting, you say that your "cash register" is fine, and that you get compliments on your tone. However, you seem to feel that you're not worthy of moving on to an F tuba (or Eb, whatever) if you can't play the Vaughan-Williams concerto real well on your CC. Some others seem to share that opinion as well, but I "beg to differ". I speak as somebody who also has a much stronger low register than high register. Any tuba is only a tool to make music with. If you want to believe that a good F tuba won't help you, then be my guest. But you'll never know if you don't try it out for yourself. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. So what? What harm would there be in your finding out for yourself, one way or the other.
