One of the bands I play in is doing an (almost) all-Sousa concert next week. Keith Brion, the famous Sousa imposter, er, impersonator will be conducting. Ordinarily, I love Sousa marches. However, with so much Sousa in recent rehearsals, I feel like the Liberty Bell is ringing in my ears.
Sousa stuff will always be special to me. Playing for four years in various U.S.Army bands forty-two years ago leaves me with lots of nice memories, even of too much Sousa.
