Remember that after World War I Germany was in awful shape, which allowed Hitler to come to power in the first place. A people without hope will rise up because they have nothing left to live for. When you can't feed yourself or your family, you will find a scapegoat, real or imagined, (in this case, the Jews) and you will fight for your offspring, knowing that if things stay the way they are your people may cease to exist.
