Being a former bandsman in the Marine Corps field bands I completely respect the D.C. group and everything in which you represent and stand for. So please do not take offense to this. I understand what it feels like to have your "Marinehood" questioned. The problem is when a recruit goes to boot camp he is told repeatedly that he/she is not a Marine until they cross that parade deck. There is no doubt in my mind that your unit represented Honor Courage and Commitment at every turn. And I am not surprised to hear the kudos from your former CO's because we received the same. There is something about musicians in the military that make them automatically stand out. But the creed is simple "Every Marine is a rifleman".
