Have you tried really cleaning out the valve case and the piston. Also make sure the slot for the valve guide is clean. You should oil it up real good before you clean it, that helps. If that doesn't work, I'd take it to a good repair tech, and see what he thinks. I wouldn't risk the frying pan.
