Thanks for the plug. Here's a post I just typed for the BBS under another heading:

Reunion Blues no longer makes bags of the quality they once did. All their new bags are made in China, and are inferior, IMHO. The new owner thinks fashion is more important than function for instrument cases. The foam is much too soft, the case no longer zips open over the bell, and they make only a few sizes.

But there is hope. Glenn Cronkhite, who founded the company that became Reunion Blues, and designed all their bags, has his own shop now. He makes fine bags in Berkeley, CA with the old RB sewing crew in many sizes, more than even RB ever offered. These are the same or improved version of the last RB San Francisco production, zips over bell, comfortable shoulder straps, separate orchestra folder pocket, firm foam, cordura with leather trim, or all leather available. Here is a list of sizes available:

Mirafone 184, 186 BBb, 188 CC, S191
Cerveny 2103 BBb, Piggy
B&S PT1 BBb, PT6 CC, PT10, PT15, PT16, PT20
Yamaha YBF 822, YCB/YBB/YFB 621, YBB 641
Hirsbrunner HB2, HB6, 510 York
Kalison CC
Alexander 155 F, 156, 157, 166
Besson 981 Eb, 982, 983 Eb, 993 BBb
Getzen / Canadian Brass G50 CC
Nirschl / Codey York
Gronitz PF125 F, PCM, PCK
VMI 2103, 103
Meinl Weston 2145 CC, 25 BBb

Where can you get these? Only a few dealers at this point. I sell them, as does Tony Clements/Low Brass Werks, Hickey's, Baltimore Brass, and a few others. If you need one of these bags for a horn not listed and don't know what size you need, you should fill out a sizing form, located at Walt Johnson's website interestingly enough:

Glenn does not have a website. Bags take two to three weeks to make usually. He also offers euphonium bags, which will hold any bell up euph, including bell up double bell euphs. He now has a model for front bell double bell euphs. He also makes trombone bags in alto tbn/bass trumpet, small, medium, and large tenor, bass, contra/cimbasso, and 2 double trombone bags. Look for slide only and bell only bags soon, so you can carry a trombone on a plane in two very small bags, to avoid getting vibed by the boarding crew.
