Having been in the music retail business, It is safe for me to say that most music stores do not rent tubas. They are really too expensive for rental to be profitable, and if they were rented, the price would be astronomical. If you find a place that does rent, let us know. In the price range you quoted, it is sometimes possible to find some good used equipment, but remember, even $2500 is a lot to lay down. Don't buy just anything, make sure it's good. One can't be buying tubas at the drop of a hat, you know!!
