This image is from a 1920's J.W. York and Sons catalog. You may not be able to see it in the scan, but the illustrated engraving does not mention Grand Rapids (of course, what is pictured and what gets on the horn are likely different).

But all Yorks were made in Grand Rapids, except those marked "York Master," which were made in Germany after WWII.

The illustration shows an identical instrument to the image Lee posted, except for the label. York changed hands in the 20's, and changed names at that time from "J.W. York and Sons" to "York Band Instrument Company." Any instrument marked either way was made in Grand Rapids. Even the model number is the same. As with Lee's later version, this was the only tuba in the York catalog at that time that listed a CC option. Note that they list both BBb and CC tubas on the same page, using only the BBb illustration. As you can see from the print, the bell is only 18-1/2 inches.

This catalog image is quite similar to the instrument that Jim Self pictures on his web site.
