Here's another interesting apples and tennis shoes thing...

A GREAT pro-quality trumpet can be purchased for under $1500 (regular versions) to around $2000 (nicest piccolo trumpets).

For the price of ONE good tuba, a trumpet player (again, trumpet players on average have no more or no less money than tuba players...and trumpet players arguably have MANY MORE GIGS) can own a pro-quality Bb, C, D-Eb, and piccolo trumpet. Yet many "serious" trumpet players claim not to be able to "afford all that right now".

I just get amused at the general perception of "money" as it relates to "stuff"...

...particularly "stuff" which probably will be only bought one time (unlike apples and tennis shoes).
