It doesn't make sense for a community college to purchase CC tubas. The majority of the tuba players who are going to be playing the school horns are not music majors and probably won't go to play tuba after college. In small schools they need to cater to those students who normally would not play in the groups, to make a sucessful group. It doesn't make sense to buy CCs that are going to hinder the people who are playing them. A non-music major isn't going to want to hassle with learning new fingerings, and some would probably just drop the group. Others would just struggle through it playing wrong notes. It was my experience in community college, that most of the non-music majors played their horns in class only. Also a majority of the music that will be played on the horns are better suited for BBb.
