Move forward with the world? How so? Are our European brethern out of sync with the rest of the world because they prefer F and BBb instruments?
The college is probably getting a good bang for the buck in a BBb; in addition, there's the advantage that tubists coming out of high school will be able to pick the horn up and play it without learning new fingerings.
Sonically, the difference between a good CC and a BBb of equal quality is probably negligible.
What would be the point to buying a CC? This IS a junior college after all. I see no compelling reason.
