You would have to use really good care in selecting your repertoire, probably doing a lot of arranging...and if the arranging were bad, that would be the end of the gig, obviously. GOOD and SUBDUED music would be required, obviously.

One commercially available piece that comes to mind is selected movements from "Dance Hall Suite". A friend of mine, Bob (Robert) Gilbert here in Memphis has some very high quality unpublished arrangements that would fit the "coffee house" repertoire, as does one of the Chicago Symphony trumpet players, Mark Ridenour. I know some of Mark's remarkable arrangements, as he lived in Memphis for awhile and I had the pleasure of playing several of them.
