Hello everyone, I play in a community marching/concert band with an old King 2341. Alot of times we stand around and wait for any number of reasons. While waiting I prefer to remove my tuba and rest it bell down on any available flat surface. They recently had my 15 year old tuba refurbished, (I advised them against it, for what they paid they could have gotten a new King) anyway I get some very uneasy looks from the guys who foot the bill for the overhaul. Does anyone know of some kind of bell rim protector for my horn to prevent it from becoming warped or further scratched?
I do not want anything ugly like a Sousa cover with a big "M" on it or anything like that. The damage from this in my opinion as a marching tuba player is normal wear and tear no different than say the scratches from my belt buckle or from the straps we use.
