I just got back from attending a concert at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony. I actually heard the New York Philharmonic there this weekend, however, I noticed that in the personnel list for the BSO, there was no tuba player listed. Of course, I knew of all the controversy about the auditions in Boston for this position, but it was still a huge shock, almost embarassing when I saw that, embarassed because seeing that in the program almost implies that none of us are good enough for that orchestra. I just can't believe that they still haven't filled this position.
