I actually made a few rims with this shape (kind of wrap-around) as an experiment. They did a good job of equalizing the pressure on the lips, but had a very definite restriction; it took considerably longer to start a tone than with a normal mouthpiece, such that I was consistently behind the beat until I learned to compensate for the delay.

I gave up on the rims after a few days or weeks, and learned to seal by bringing the corners of my mouth forward. If you want to try them, they thread onto a Doug Elliot-sized cup and sort of match a Conn Helleberg cup diameter. Let me know.
