Maybe this would be another reason why I don't care for the current day Philharmonia (and I listen to a lot of orchestral recordings). However, back in the days of Klemperer and Barbirolli, when Walter Legge first put the orchestra together, the Philharmonia might have possibly been the best orchestra in Europe. A slough of big names cut their teeth on the Philharmonia of old: Maazel; Giulini; Karajan - you name 'em.
