Sometimes it's just making the most of what you already have. I have a 4/4 BBb York and a York Eb monster. I can take the bell from the eefer (which is shorter), graft it onto the BBb body (and still have a long bell available for something else), add valves and branches and, with a little work end up with a very respectable 4/4 CC for the two horns plus about 3 grand, where neither the BBb or the Eb was all that great.

Now, if someone would trade me a nice CC for the two Yorks and a couple of grand, I'd probably re-think taking the torch and saw route.
