I am ashamed of my education! By the time I was ready to go to college (a very long time ago), I had never heard of ANY of the pieces recommended by any of you. As to scales, arpeggios, etc., we were lucky to be able to play the major scales and their arpeggios, let alone, all the minors. When I started my first private lesson in college (first lesson - period), I was terrified by a middle C (I had never played above F in the staff).
I am completely in awe!
