I know your opinion, Jim, but there are a lot of people in S.F. who DO stick around. However, my real point was that, IMHO, modern music is not the main reason why orchestras are having financial troubles. They're very expensive institutions that only make back a percentage oftheir expensenses through ticket sales. Also, it's been my experience that MTT programs a fair amount very listenable 20th and 21st century music. The Del Tredici "Final Alice" comes to mind, for me.
