Even though listening to recordings is very helpful, it is still a great idea to listen to live musicians. I'm a euphonium player and there are some professional players who I have heard that sound much better in person than on a recording. Also, have you thought about going to tuba/euphonium conferences, getting lessons with professionals or going to master classes? These are all wonderful ways to hear other musicians, learn and have a great time with other musicians.
