I can understand the point that it is so hard to get into an orchestra (several auditions), a mistake like this may not be overlooked. However, the guy is human. He got the job because he proved he could handle the job. But everyone makes mistakes - especially in live high pressure situations. This is part of what makes live music live. If you don't want mistakes then just program it into a sythesiser - and that is exactly what we don't want. Off the top of my head, I can think of 3 top level tubists who I have heard make obvious mistakes. So what!
