I don't know about the oval Bestlers, but I bought a Bestler euphonium about a year ago. It served it's purpose for me (I was getting back into playing and wasn't sure how much I would actually be playing, so I didn't want to make a huge investment). I played it in church for about a year. Quality is somewhat lacking, the valves and slides take constant attention to keep them in working order. Intonation didn't seem to far off. It always took a lot of air (stuffy) to get the sound rolling. As for country of origin, I'm not sure but I believe they are Chinese imports. Overall, I'd tell you to shy away from them. It takes a lot of work to get a good sound out of them, which IMO detracts from the enjoyment of playing.
