The C4 is a bit shallower than my personal preference for the "stock" 186 mpc. And, since it's not a wide cup, it would probably be a reasonably good choice for an F tuba. I use a Conn Helleberg (the large one) on my 186 for quintet playing, but it's a little too dark of a sound, and I've been directed to try the Rose Solo or the C4. Maybe the C4 will be okay on the 186 for quintet.
Sounds like your existing mpcs can each be used with the 186, and also one other horn. Enough options with a minimal number of mpcs.
