I believe the answer to your question is no. No one on the west coast actually stocks MW tubas. Steve Ferguson in LA lists the 2145 on his site (http://home.comcast.net/~stevenferguson/Tuba.htm) but doesn't appear to have any in stock. Tony Clements (bay area) carries many fine brands, but not MW.
You are correct, this is an important, sensitive purchase for you. My suggestion, since you are going to drop a load of cash anyway, is to drop a few hundred more and fly to the east coast where you can play horns at Dillons and Baltimore Brass. This will be well worth the added expense if you find a horn you love. And even if you don't, it would be a GREAT vacation.
