Simple non-compensating pistons have less mass and require lighter springs. Further, the 4th valve loop on non-compensating euphoniums isn't forced back through another complete set of valve ports...

(The possible advantages I was referring to are not particularly low register response. After all - as you stated in a different way - that fully-compensating rig is a lot of extra trouble to possibly benefit two pitches within the range of the instrument and five pitches below the normal range of the instrument.)
